Stick in Link: Eriksson set to replace Lack at Worlds; Tortorella still in limbo

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at passittobulis@gmail.com, tweet us @passittobulis, or just come over and write your link on a pad of paper, I guess.)

• With Eddie Lack pulling out of the Worlds, Sweden appears to be looking to the Canucks’ other Swedish goalie. Sorry, their other other Swedish goalie, Joacim Eriksson. He’s heading to the Worlds in Belarus. (Why not Jacob Markstrom? Or Robin Lehner of the Senators, for that matter? It sounds like Swedish coach Par Marts just doesn’t like them. He’s a weird dude. We know he only reached out to Lack because he’d run out of other options, and a large part of that is because no one is ever good enough for him.) [Expressen]

• Meanwhile, Lack explains to a Swedish outlet that there’s no danger of surgery with his current injury, unless he doesn’t stay home to rehab it now. [Norrtelje Tidning]

• Alex Burrows is excited to represent Canada, who invited him, seemingly unaware that he brings with him a deadly curse.

• Wyatt Arndt completes his countdown of the top 10 (or bottom 10, depending on how you look at it) stories of the 2013-14 Canucks season. [Canucks Army]

• Although there were some bright spots. Chris Higgins had a pretty good year, for instance. [Nucks Misconduct]

• It’s that time of year again! The time when the Canucks are out of the playoffs, and there’s not much to do but look at former Canucks making an impact for playoffs teams and lament that the Canucks let them go, and that they’re not sitting around annoyed at no playoff hockey with the rest of us. Jason Botchford on Raffi Torres. [The Province]

• Meanwhile, Ben Kuzma speculates on potential Tortorella replacements, provided Tortorella needs replacing. How about Abbotsford coach Troy G. Ward? [The Province]

• Actually, hey, yeah, why isn’t John Tortorella fired yet? [Vancity Buzz]

• Iain MacIntyre thinks Tortorella deserves to know right now whether or not he’s back next year. Also, the rest of us do, because there’s literally nothing else to talk about right now. [Vancouver Sun]

• Dr. Mark Recchi thinks Bruins assisant GM Jim Benning could be the cure for what ails the swaggerless Canucks. [Pro Hockey Talk]

• Finally, what to watch now that there’s no playoffs? How about the artistry of movement? South Surrey dancer Nela Hallwas thinks the Canucks’ postseason hopes sapped attention from her company’s dance performance: “Last year… we were vying for time and attention with the Canucks being in the playoffs – it just seemed everyone was busy watching hockey games, but now it’s different. Those games are not happening, so we’re kind of hoping people will try something else, because what we do is pretty cool, too. No, we don’t score goals, sorry, but we create some pretty cool moments.” [Surrey Now]

The Swedish articles are awesome reading using Google translate- especially since Eddie Lack is translated as Eddie Leak throughout both. Poor Lack. Hoping the rehab goes well this summer!
