Stick in Link: Andrew Alberts’ concussion recovery and the search for a new GM

It’s time for “Stick in Link”, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at passittobulis@gmail.com, tweet us @passittobulis, or just come over and write your link on a pad of paper, I guess.)

  • Andrew Alberts is still feeling the effects of his concussion suffered at the end of December, but a Vancouver concussion specialist is giving him hope. [The Province]
  • What in the world are we going to do without Canucks hockey? Here are a few ideas, though some require that you live in Australia. I mean, if that’s an option for you, go for it. Living in Australia is pretty sweet. [Canucks Australia]
  • It’s time for Player Autopsies over at Nucks Misconduct, where they perform surgery on each Canuck, take biological samples to perform toxicology tests, and remove all of the organs, ultimately to determine the cause of death. Fortunately, all of that is metaphorical. Here’s the first one, on Henrik Sedin. [Nucks Misconduct]
  • Think the season was so bad that none of the Canucks deserve any awards? Well too bad, though I don’t think anyone is eager to win the Martin Rucinsky Award. [Canucks Hockey Blog]
  • Cam Charron doesn’t think it makes sense financially to buy out David Booth and sneaks in at the end that a better candidate for a compliance buyout might actually be Jason Garrison. [Canucks Army]
  • In case you haven’t heard, Roberto Luongo will be on the TSN panel during the playoffs. We’re pretty excited about that. [Always90Four]
  • Who might the Canucks hire as their new General Manager? Rob Williams has seven candidates for you. [VanCity Buzz]
  • Markus Naslund is getting inducted into the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame, which is pretty neat. Sidenote: could he play any role in the Canucks’ new management team given his experience as GM of MODO? I doubt he’ll be named GM, but he would be an interesting choice as an Assistant GM. [Swedish Ice Hockey Association]
  • Zack Kassian played dodgeball with a bunch of kids. This picture must be from before they started playing, because none of them appear to have black eyes, broken jaws, or concussions. [Twitter]

  • Here’s the weekly prospect report from Josh Weissbock, written just before the Utica Comets lost and were officially eliminated from the AHL playoffs. Still, there are some positive signs. [Canucks Army]
  • What was the Utica Comets inaugural season like? Alex Biega’s wife, Diane, gives us a different perspective. [Utica Comets]
  • I don’t know where they got the photo from, but r/Canucks found it and, since we’re the go-to media outlet for shirtless Canucks, we have to share it with you. Here’s topless Eddie Lack. You’re welcome. [Reddit]

What’s more important than that photo of Eddie Lack … is that photo of Eddie Lack… as the Canucks desktop pbs.twimg.com/media/BedEQgsCUAAuHqS.jpg

My guess is, as it looks like a traditional Swedish smorgasbord is on display there, that Daniel is hiding booze for the sake of a family-friendly photo. The joke that Eddie Lack is on the menu is just a bonus.

Are you sure that Lack isn’t actually connected by phone? That looks like some sort of phone setup around the monitor…
He may skiping at the smorg! (is it OK to say that in Swedish?)
