New Van Fan is a web-series that follows the adventures of long-time Canucks fan Dan as he attempts to bring novice Canucks fan Andreas up to speed. The whole thing may or may not be an excuse to point out the inherent silliness of this fanbase — we’re not quite sure. Have an idea for an episode? Suggest it in the comments.
Dan and Andreas aren’t producing as many New Van Fan episodes this year as they did last year, which is pretty reasonable, since their original episode a week pace seems pretty unsustainable.
But where the quantity has decreased, the quality is increased. The second episode of season 2, which sees Andreas draw up a foolproof plan for scoring, is fantastic. It’s also hilarious. Watch and chuckle heartily.
“Because I know who he is.”
“Okay, good for you.”
Good for Stanton too. Amazing to think the Canucks plucked this guy off waivers (and were met with mockery from some very, very, super-incredibly-smart hockey minds), and not only are they visibly missing him right now while he’s out with injury, but Andreas knows who he is.
So much good stuff here. The Sedins summoning a unicorn (which is a legal move, so long as the unicorn is wearing skates)? I can believe it. Dan having a ferret guy? Makes sense. Really, this entire play is believable, except for the part where Roberto Luongo has the puckhandling ability to do his part. HUGE FAIL, ANDREAS.
But it’s not a total loss. This episode also features the most accurate mathemetical formula for scoring goals I’ve ever seen:
Mad geniuses, these two.
