It’s been a long time since the patron saint of PITB played with the Vancouver Canucks, but he still holds a special place in our hearts and our header images. So when Jan Bulis does something cool over in the KHL, we’re all over it. When Jan Bulis passes it to Bulis, you better bet we are aaaalllllll over it.
Bulis is currently playing for Traktor Chelyabinsk and in their game against Avangard Omsk on Friday, he scored one of the most unreal goals I have ever seen.
The highlight of Bulis’s goal starts at 0:20 in the above video. You need to watch it, preferably multiple times, because it’s amazing. Here, I’ll give you a moment.
All right, now that you’ve watched it a whole bunch of times and marvelled at the sheer unbelievability of it all, let’s take stock of what just happened.
Jan Bulis took a shot on net from his knees that, much like Bulis himself, goaltender Karri Ramo couldn’t control. The rebound came out into Bulis’s skates, so Bulis kicked the puck back up to his stick while on his hands and knees, then swiped the puck five-hole on Ramo. I would say it’s a tic-tac-toe goal, but the puck went in a triangle, so…Q*Bert? Tricky Triangle?
If you think about it, Bulis should get both assists on his goal for a three point play like he had been fouled in the midst of an awesome slam dunk. He should get the secondary assist for the initial shot and primary assist for the kick pass up to his stick. He passed it to Bulis twice on the same play.
Honestly, I wish we got a little bit more of that level of ability when he was with the Canucks and a little less of the inexplicable piggy-backing, but then he wouldn’t have been the Bulis we fell in like with.
Major stick-tap to Steve Dangle from Canucks Army for the heads-up.Tags: Bulis Update, Jan Bulis, The YouTubes
