Did Kevin Bieksa orchestrate this lockout just to increase demand for his charity game?
Probably not. But it would have been a savvy move if he had, because with nothing else going on in Canuckland, tickets for Wednesday night’s tilt between the Canucks Bieksa’s Buddies and the UBC Thunderbirds sold out within just a few hours on Ticketmaster Saturday.
Granted, UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre only holds 5000 people and tickets were only $20 apiece, so it wasn’t going to take long to reach capacity in this town anyway. But Bieksa’s Buddies were an even hotter commodity than expected.
Now, if you didn’t get tickets, we would like to give you our deepest sympathies. And also two tickets.

I look forward to it after every game because 99% of the time it makes me laugh. I can sit down at work with my coffee and read IWTG and it puts me in a good mood to start the day, that is definately what I miss most.

I miss having something other than the writing, the music and the sheer will power (among other things) to help me get through my depression.
Having a hockey game be on every few days really gave me something to look forward to and helped me keep my mood up.
Unfortunately, this lockout has robbed me of one of the many things that currently helps me keep my mood up; but that has not kept me from continuing to fight my depression.
Howver, that has also not stopped me from continuing to hold my head high in hopes that said lockout ends and ends quickly and brings hockey back into our lives. ^^
