Everyone knows what Manny Malhotra looks like: bald and beautiful. He’s been rocking the chrome dome for over 8 years, so it’s easy to assume that he’s just always been bald, like Patrick Stewart. I just assumed that he’s been shaving his head ever since he was a kid, or that his head simply never produced hair longer than a millimetre.
Nope. Turns out, Manny used to have hair. And not just any hair: awesome hair.
Back when Manny was a fresh-faced 22-year-old with the Dallas Stars, he had a full head of hair. And, what’s more: he had corn rows.

This proves, of course, that Edward Norton was a die hard Dallas Stars fan back in 2002, waiting 9 years to co-opt Manny’s style for the movie Stone.
Now that’s some fantastic hair, but it gets better. You see, Malhotra wasn’t the quiet and reserved guy that we know now from his days in Vancouver. Back in his early 20′s, Manny was a wild and crazy dude. He wasn’t content with your basic, run-of-the-mill corn rows. He had to get fancy.

I swear, that isn’t photoshopped. That is pure, unadulterated Afro-Manny. He looks like he should be fighting Han to the death instead of taking defensive zone faceoffs.

(Btw, and I’m not sure if this is a confession or boast, but I used to work the a salon that was responsible for 90% of the Jheri-curl ‘dos in Vancouver, back in the day. That *h*t’s coming back into style too! I say: Think it through, people. Think it through. Not a good look, imo. But the old-skool ‘fro is! I wonder, if he wasn’t constrained by helmets and the dreaded helmet head, would he have grown that ‘fro out past Willis and into Lenny Kravitz-not-Ludacris territory).
