With just two goals in regulation and only 46 shots total, Monday night’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes wasn’t exactly the epitome of entertainment. Fortunately, Canucks fans can count on Kevin Bieksa to liven things up, though he normally does so with his comments in interviews.
Near the end of the third period, Bieksa tried to get fancy with an iced puck, flipping it off the boards and attempting to catch it behind his back. He came just short of succeeding when linesman Mark Wheler stepped in to help him out…
…and got a little fresh in the process.
Shorty and Garrett have a little fun with the moment: “It’s February 14th tomorrow” notes Shorty innocently. Extra credit goes to the Sportsnet production team, who conveniently paused on the moment Wheler went for the Ballstein-esque tushy squeeze as they cut to the Sportsnet logo. Kudos.
Unfortunately, no one interviewed Wheler after the game. Otherwise, we could have laid to rest the rumour that Bieksa’s nickname, “Juice,” pertains to one of the attributes of his gluteus maximus.
Tumblr, of course, was thrilled, as much as a social media network can be thrilled. Our good friend Chloe Ezra produced this lovely animated gif.
It’s pretty much perfect, particularly the look of thoughtful concentration from the fan in the front row. Clearly this moment has caused him to re-evaluate his life. Now he’s thinking about that special someone in his life whose behind he hasn’t squeezed recently. It’s Valentine’s Day: have you squeezed your loved one’s tuckus today?
In all honesty, I’m a little bit worried about posting this. PITB is already the internet’s number one source for naked Kesler and Chris Higgins’ abs. We might end up with a reputation.

February 14, 2012Well, it is pretty funny. Shorty and Garrett didn’t help either — they are the grand poobahs of unintentional hilarity. Cheech in particular can take any innocent occasion and statement and make it sound vaguely dirty.

February 14, 2012Am not quite sure it was totally unintentional in this case – right before the Feb 14th comment, there was quite a naughty chuckle when they said- I can’t remember the exact words but it was something like “And the linesman tried to help Bieksa out there.” “Yes, he sure did.”
