Along with the 54 all-stars and rookies in Ottawa this weekend, a whole host of members of the media descended on the nation’s capital to cover the festivities. One of them, however, is significantly more adorable than the rest. As cute as Bob McKenzie is, that reporter was undoubtedly Joey the Junior Reporter.
In case you’re not familiar with the Chicago whiz kid, he got his start at the age of 5, asking the Blackhawks the truly tough questions, like “Who’s da biggest turkey on da team?” and “How much money didja get from da toof fairy?” of Duncan Keith.
Most impressively, the 5-year-old had been a Blackhawks fan for 6 years at the time.
Now, with over a year of experience under his belt, Joey has taken his act on the road and briefly chatted with the Sedin twins during the All-Star media day. Check it out.
Look, “Which one are you?” is a perfectly legitimate first question to ask the Sedins. But you’ll notice that he completely snubs Daniel through the rest of the interview, just confirming his name then deferring to the captain for every other question.
It’s no surprise, then, when Joey asks the twins if they ever fight each other that Henrik answers, “We’re too old now to fight with our brothers” while Daniel just gives the two of them a death stare, imagining himself fighting both of them simultaneously.
If that death stare looks familiar, it’s because it is the same look he gave Henrik during the All-Star draft.
It’s like something tweaked in Daniel when he won the Ted Lindsay Award instead of the Hart, like his brother. That competitive nature shared by the twins that made them such incredible hockey players over time changed into something ugly when his accomplishments did not match Henrik’s.
Now Daniel will not rest until he is the greatest Sedin. Nay, the only Sedin.

January 29, 2012Sedins, pfft, who knew Lundqvist looked like THAT!

January 29, 2012As far as I know everyone did. He’s been on People’s Top 100 list. The guy’s totally unseated Theodore for best looking player. Conversely there have been a lot of nominees for the Mike Ricci Award on the other end of the spectrum

January 29, 2012I didn’t. Don’t pay much attention to the east coasters. Never look at People’s top 100 list. But holy moly.

January 29, 2012Campbell and Hartnell are good sports, Patrick Kane was boringly nice.
I heard that the Sedins managed to pull off some sort of switcheroo at the All-Star Draft.
I would confirm this myself, but I can’t tell them apart.

January 29, 2012I have heard this as well, but since I also can’t tell them apart, I’ll just have to take their word for it. Could anyone who CAN tell them apart confirm this and perhaps show when this happened?

January 29, 2012They didn’t actually switch places. The photo that’s got everyone in a tizzy is a photoshop.

January 29, 2012I hope Campbell never again tells a five year old “with a body like this…”
To Lundqvist: “My mom thinks you’re dreamy.’” Don’t we all, Joey’s mom…don’t we all.
