2011 was a pretty good year for us. Last December, we were running this blog at work when nobody was looking. Now we run it for work. It’s pretty grand.
This year has been a dream come true for both Daniel and myself, but it doesn’t happen unless people decide, for whatever reason, that our blog is worth frequenting. Thank you for that. You have no idea what it means to us.
We’ll be taking the weekend off to spend time with our wives and families, but we just wanted to wish everyone who visits PITB on a regular basis a merry Christmas and happy holidays.
As for you casual readers… same to you as well. But only because it’s Christmas.
If you’re bored, why not enjoy Roberto Luongo’s 10 best animated gifs of 2011, or read about the time Daniel Sedin missed six weeks of hockey filling in for Mrs. Clause, only to wind up watching as his brother Henrik used an overdose of Santa magic to win the Art Ross and the Hart? Daniel’s Worst Christmas is the only Canuck-related holiday poem you’ll ever need.
We’ll be back Monday with our usual year-end stuff — the top 50 Canuck goals of 2011 countdown, the year in review — and of course, plenty of ridiculous nonsense that someone will make the mistake of taking much too seriously.
In the meantime, we got you a present:

Hope you like it. I wrapped it myself.
And finally, to quote the words of the philosopher Don Cherry: “ALWAYS REMEMBER: DECEMBER 25TH. BABY JESUS. BORN.“

December 24, 2011Merry Christmas guys! I look forward to another year of witticisms, obscure references, pictures of Canucks players naked/shirtless, and maybe occasionally some hockey-related posts!

December 24, 2011MERRY CHRISTMAS!
This very night is Christmas Eve
A special time if you believe
In Jesus Christ or Santa Claus
Or just in giving just because
Merry Christmas each one of you
Regardless of religious view
Embrace this time of peace and love
And praise whatever God’s above
Because our years are all too few
May you each day be born anew
Accept for life there is a reason
Exemplified this Christmas season
This very night is Christmas Eve
A special time if you’ll believe

December 24, 2011’twas a very good year of reading PITB. for those of us not fortunate enough to watch every game, I find IWTG is mandatory reading for great insight, analysis and humour. keep up the excellent work.

December 24, 2011Merry Christmas!
The ‘Raffi Torres Is A Bowling Ball’ meme was the nicest hockey gift of the year IMO!

December 24, 2011While Kiss Huggins’ abs are indeed impressive, this blog is truly the best non-tickets, non-jersey present a sane(ish) Canucks fan could ask for. Thanks, PITB crew and have a merry Christmas!

December 25, 2011Merry Christmas Daniel, Harrison and Company. I’ve only recently discovered this blog this season but have quickly come to appreciate the thought, insight and, most importantly, humour that you all bring to this blog. Keep up the great work and look forward to your future posts in the next year. Hopefully, some that will celebrate a Canuck’s Stanley Cup victory!

December 25, 2011Merry Christmas to you both — all. I hope to learn the rules better — it’s my New Year’s resolution. I will thusly have to rob you of the opportunity to tell me what the rules are, Harrison. I stumbled upon PITB sometime last year early in the season . I can’t even remember how I got here. It was probably searching for Bulis’ legendary upending of Jack Johnson. But I’m so glad I found this blog. It’s definitely the best thing I read bar none. I recommend it to all my hockey lovin friends — my 79 year old dad even reads it but he doesn’t get many of the references. Actually, he doesn’t get any of the references, but he likes the goal breakdowns anyway, so keep them coming. I especially like the comments because, Cambo aside, they tend to be intelligent, thoughtful, and fairly objective. I, together with all the Bulies I’m sure, are looking forward to a great remainder of the season for our beloved team, and to reading all about it on PITB. Thanks so much! And kudos for being able to live your dream!

December 25, 2011Merry Christmas my friends. Your success and accolades are heartily deserved for your wit and whimsy, insight and something else that starts with ‘i’ and is awesome, shine a lamp of huzzah and hooray into our days. I’m so stoked that you guys are just hitting your stride and look forward to watching you continue to kick ass and share wonder for years to come

December 25, 2011You guys are the best – thanks for all your fun and insights, esp play breakdowns and IWTG and your article on bias in sports reporting. After a good game it prolongs the triumph to read your posts; after a bad game, it’s my only consolation. Well, the only one I can drive after partaking of. Merry Christmas – you deserved your great year and the success of your blog!

December 28, 2011Congratulations on living the dream: making your passion your work! I came to PITB when a friend told me, “It’s got two of your favourite things, T.S.Eliot and the Canucks. Plus the commenters write poems!” And now I’m addicted.
You guys have humour, a great mix of high-low culture (tumblr, OMG!!!) and wonderful writing. Canucks fans are getting more presents than just seeing Higgy’s abs.

December 28, 2011Perhaps those at your work were looking but perhaps also “overlooking” because they knew what was going on
Merry Christmas you two!
