Like many Canucks fans who spend an inordinate amount of time on the internet, I’ve been following the Replace the Kurtenblog contest currently being held by our
hated rivals sister newspaper The Province. There are a lot of great people competing, many of whom we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the past couple years: Cam Charron, Jeff Angus, Clay Imoo, Katie Maximick, and Thomas Drance are all blogosphere mainstays and there are a lot of other quality bloggers in the race.
Because of this, it doesn’t feel right to throw PITB’s support behind any one blogger. But there’s one guy who I had never heard of prior to this competition and I just found his videos on YouTube. They are legitimately hilarious. His name is Jordan Bowman and he deserves some love.
First up we have the simple pleasure of “Jersey. Always.” While it’s a simple enough concept, the soundtrack and towel-waving enthusiasm is what carries this into classic Canucks comedy. I now regret handing out sparklers at my wedding instead of Canucks playoff towels. Missed opportunity.
Next we have “The Heart”, which presents a clever spin on the “Heart of a Canuck” campaign. Again, simple concept, but it’s the soap opera style and the sincerity in the delivery that sells it. Although being all heart would be a serious condition.
Then we have the excellent two-part series “Getting to Know Bow”:
We at PITB always have time for self-deprecation.
Jordan Bowman resides on Twitter as @jBowmancouver and blogs at j.Bowman Can’t Sleep. Though the colours of his website give me a headache, the guy can write. I’m just worried that he might get lost in the shuffle with some of the other, more well-established bloggers. That would be a shame. So check out Jordan Bowman and, if you like what you see, toss a few votes his way.Tags: Hardcore Fans, Jordan Bowman, Replace the KB, The YouTubes
