Henrik Zetterberg has only 2 points in 6 games. If it wasn't for Detroit starting the season 5-1-0, this would probably be a bigger story.
My apologies for the delay in updating the Official PITB Anti-Fantasy League. My intention was to have it updated every Saturday morning, but my source for statistics didn’t update until well after midnight on Friday and everything happened on Saturday, with the early afternoon game and the Booth larceny trade. So these statistics and standings are up to date as of Saturday at midnight.
The Sedin twins have been producing at a terribly fantastic rate, as have Anze Kopitar, Thomas Vanek, John Tavares, and Jeff Skinner. This is awful news for their anti-fantasy owners. For instance, Daniel Sedin has scored 4 times as many points as the lowest producer in his category, Corey Perry, while Anze Kopitar has 5 times as many points as Henrik Zetterberg.
Some owners are still benefiting from injuries: Tim Connolly and Nino Niederreiter have yet to play a game this season. Of course, neither has Aaron Rome, but since only one player in his category has a point so far, that’s not doing much for his owners.
The standings are tight at the top, with JDM and Shawn R tied for first place with 32 points. The big non-producers for JDM were Corey Perry, Jarome Iginla, and Patrick Marleau. He also got a big 2 points from Michael Grabner, in a category with anti-fantasy killers John Tavares and Jeff Skinner. So far, his pick of Carey Price in the All-Star Goaltender category is looking prescient: the Montreal netminder has only one win so far.
It’s not surprising to see that Shawn R has a similar lineup, with his stars being Perry, Iginla, Marleau, Grabner, and Price. A word of warning, however: Perry scored the bulk of his points in March and April, going on an incredible run to win the Rocket Richard and steal the Hart from Daniel Sedin. Iginla is a notorious slow starter: he had only 2 points in his first 6 games in 2010-11, but had 15 points in his final 7 games. Grabner was cut from the Panthers and only tallied 4 points in his first 15 games with the Islanders before scoring 48 points in his final 51 games. Don’t get cocky.
Last place still belongs to Raj, with Giroux, Vanek, and Skinner doing most of the damage, but abenson is just one point ahead, with Kopitar and Daniel Sedin leading the way into the bottom of the standings. It’s a long season, however, and we’re not even 1/10th of the way through yet.
The Anti-Fantasy All-Star Team (the players from each category with the fewest points) has scored a total of only 20 points so far. They are as follows:

October 23, 2011excellent, I see I’ve managed to move up about 20 spots, while still remaining mediocre overall. wait, is that the point here? is anti-fantasy like golf? I’m so confused/
Daniel Wagner
October 23, 2011Anti-fantasy is a lot like golf, actually.

October 23, 2011Damn. More points so now losing.

October 23, 2011I’ll be honest, I’m feeling pretty good about my picks. I think I’ve put together a truly Milbury-esque lineup. Getting a little nervous about my Byfuglien pick though…
Raj
October 23, 2011Sigh, i am still a bottem (top) dweller. I need to use these skills in my fantasy leagues! I dont know if i should be proud or bitterly dissapointed.

October 23, 2011I guess the moral of the story is never bet against Jeff Skinner….

October 23, 2011Vanek and Kopitar… not impressed at all with that drop down the standings. Hopefully Perry keeps the slow pace or I’ll be in a world of hurt!
JDM
October 23, 2011Hahahaha awesome. Now I just need to go all Tonya Harding on Perry before he starts gaining steam, and I’m set. Sad part: I have Tim Connolly in my non-anti-pool. Also, typing that double negative caused me physical pain.
Daniel Wagner
October 23, 2011Is it better to not bet against a better performance from a bad player who isn’t prone to injury but battered by injuries nonetheless or is it better to bet on a bad performance from a better player who is?
Honestly, I don’t even know what I just said.

October 23, 2011Seems my alphabetical superiority has helped me once again, but not enough to keep me ahead of invisibleairwaves! I’LL GET YOU NEXT TIME!
