Canuck fans got a taste of Dan Hamhuis’s skillset last season, as he smoothly transitioned into the team’s top defense pairing, providing a steadying presence for Kevin Bieksa and, with him, establishing one of the league’s most effective shutdown duos.
But have we seen all Dan Hamhuis has to offer? No, and I’m not talking about the promising offensive flourishes he’s shown through two games this season. I’m talking about the karate.
Up until the other night, nobody knew Hamhuis’s his most effective crease-clearing strategy: the Chun Li-style kick combo, in which he defies all known laws of physics, perches on his back leg and kicks wildly in all directions.
You’ll notice that there are no Blue Jackets in this photo. That’s because, when the Dan Hamhuis kicking attack combo starts up, they know to keep their distance. Just out of frame, all five Columbus players are marvelling at Hamhuis’s balance and leg control.
Where did Hamhuis learn to kick like that? Why, on the Street Fighter circuit, of course.
Anyway. I find this photo odd.Tags: Hamhuis, I Find this Photo Odd
