Some of you might remember the minor falling-out we caused earlier this summer, when we highlighted a small selection of Mike Duco’s tweets for the purposes of a gentle, comedic ribbing. You see, it seemed to us that a hockey player taking public jabs at a team and then immediately being traded to that team was amusing.
Unfortunately, many Canuck fans (some of whom were still feeling a bit rioty), didn’t find it amusing at all. Rather, they found it heinous, and took to bombarding Duco’s Twitter account with all manner of vitriol and harassment. The sudden wave of venom bothered Duco so much that, eventually, he felt there was no recourse but to shut down the account altogether.
Then the anger turned toward us (likely because, with only 140 characters, it’s hard to include a disclaimer that states “the views and opinions of this tweet do not reflect those of Pass it to Bulis”). Even now, every time a new hockey player joins Twitter, somebody warns us to stay far, far away. And speaking of hockey players, Anthony Stewart, Duco’s former teammate, still hasn’t forgiven us. He’s been ripping Pass it to Bulis via his Twitter account for months. Heck, it’s pretty much all he does now.
Thankfully, our guilt has finally been alleviated, as Mike Duco relaunched his Twitter account this morning.
At the time of this writing, Duco only has 200 or so followers, but he has pledged to donate $1000 to Chicago Wolves’ charities if he gets to 5000 by next Saturday. The way I see it, if we help him get there, he won’t gingerly remove my glasses and speedbag my jaw for fifteen minutes the first time we meet. So follow him.
And please, for the love of all that is good, do not harass Duco until he deletes this account. If you do, Anthony Stewart will literally murder us.Tags: Mike Duco, Twitter
