As most of you know, The Twitter Needs Juice campaign came to a fruitful end two nights ago, when Kevin Bieksa finally signed up for a Twitter account. Though his first tweet was contingent upon reaching 10,000 followers, Bieksa reached the milestone within 2 hours, and the following morning, it began.
Today we began to see the fruit of our labours, as Kesler and Bieksa combined to create a moment that was briefly amusing — which is, of course, all we ever wanted.
It began when Kesler tweeted a picture of the boot that greets arrivals at the airport in Vail, Colorado. What Kesler’s doing there is beyond me. Why the airport officials — or maybe ghosts, because the airport is clearly abandoned — chose to furnish the baggage claim with a giant boot is also beyond me, but it’s there.
Shortly after a bemused Kesler tweeted the photo, as well as a second photo in which he takes a closer look, Bieksa responded:
Personally, I think Kesler should have hopped inside of it and used it to cruise through world 5 of Super Mario 3.
Anyway, I scoured the Colorado newswire and could find no reports of Ryan Kesler being arrested for causing a scene in the Vail airport. That’s probably wisdom, and not just because public disturbances are unwise — straddling something that large is a surefire way to reaggravate that groin. We’d hate for Kesler to be out until December because he couldn’t resist taking a ride on the Vail airport boot.
Still, it would have been quite the sight, which is why frequent collaborator Chloe Ezra sketched it for us. Here is her original piece, I’m on a boot.
