I understand the individual elements of this pendant. I understand putting Hello Kitty in a Canucks sweater. I understand making a pendant out of a Scrabble tile. What I am baffled by is the combination. I am also puzzled by the little blue crystal in the corner that Hello Kitty seems to be pointing at with her foam finger. And I am upset at the lack of a Tanner Glass mention in the product description.
This odd and oddly cute little pendant was found on Etsy and it isn’t the only Canucks Scrabble tile pendant available from the designer. They range from the simple, to the retro, to the mind-altering. Seriously, don’t stare at that last one too long unless you want to see Doctor Doom riding a unicorn in front of a tie-dye sky for the next three hours. Actually, that sounds kind of awesome. Stare away!
According to the creator, true fans of the Canucks love these pendants; I must confess, I’m feeling a little judged right now. Given the prior mention of the rioters in the description, she seems to be insinuating that if you don’t like her pendants, not only are you not a true fan, you are just as bad as the rioters. Come on eBar Designs, let’s not get political.
It’s a little strange to see the Canucks collide with Scrabble in a way completely unrelated to our Scrabble Battle with Tanner Glass, but I suppose it makes sense: Scrabble is one of the most popular board games and the Canucks are pretty great. It shouldn’t be surprising to see some crossover in their fanbases. I just didn’t expect to see it on a necklace with Hello Kitty on it.

August 23, 2011You know it’s August when I actually read posts like this one all the way through. IT NEEDS TO BE HOCKEY TIME NOW.

August 24, 2011And I’m not technically a girl; I’m a middle aged woman (that still gets excited about a Hello Kitty necklace). I guess I just violated that rule of the Internet where you’re not supposed to let people know who you really are. My bad. AND HOCKEY NEEDS TO START SOON!!!!

August 24, 2011Are these things licensed, or is the exposure from the popularity of PITB about to get the creator a lickety-split cease-and-desist order from the club?

August 24, 2011It’s on Etsy. I sincerely doubt the Canucks care.

OK, the NHL, not the Canucks per se.
