It’s a stressful time right now. With Game 7 just a few hours away, fans of the Vancouver Canucks are slightly on edge. After 106 games played, the entire season rides on just one game. With that kind of pressure, you might have some questions: which Roberto Luongo will show up tonight? Is there more than one Roberto Luongo? How many Roberto Luongos are there? Which one takes long walks on the seawall? Are all the Roberto Luongos married? Do you think a girl like me would have a chance with a guy like him?

What about injuries? Is Alex Edler 100%? Is Henrik playing through broken ribs? Are Ryan Kesler’s legs still attached to his body? Does Keith Ballard have a broken heart? Does he need someone to hold him close and tell him everything is all right? What do I do?

If the Canucks win tonight, will there be a riot? If they lose, will there be a riot? Should I wear heels or sensible flats, just in case there’s a riot? Why are so many of these questions from a feminine perspective? What is happening?

Relax.

Sometimes the fever pitch reaches a critical point. When that happens, we at PITB recommend that you take a step back, focus on your breathing, and enjoy a much-needed Moment of Pure Bulis.

Did you know? Jeff Tambellini’s favorite board game is Snakes n’ Ladders.

The tension is almost unbearable. Does Jan know what you do to him? BTW, what is old Jan up to these days? My daughter used to think his name was Young Bulis. That’s what it sounded like. For some reason the announcers could never just say “Bulis”, always “Jan Bulis”. She thought he was pretty special because the only game she had watched was the one where Young Jan upended Jack Johnson in his first NHL game. That was magic. That was the only magic Young Jan managed to pull off unfortunately.

That’s my favorite Bulis moment. My second favorite is his sick assist on Jeff Cowan’s goal that led to the infamous bra toss:

To actually answer your question, Jan is currently in the KHL, playing for Traktor Chelyabinsk. Prior to that he was on Atlant Moscow Oblast, where Kyle Wellwood was briefly his teammate.

Thank you for posting this. I have been trying not to read anything hockey related today so I am glad I chose wisely.

I feel much better. For now.

    Go Canucks Go – please.

I completely forgot about Conan the Brabarian and Jan’s role in that. I too have been trying not to read anything hockey today, although I must admit to reading Cam’s column, which for one I agree with. It was a good column. Very Bulisy I thought.

It’s felt like a 2 month ride on the Big Dipper for me.
I just hope that I don’t feel like puking when it ends tonight.
    May the best team win.

I have a rule (like most people commenting on this blog) of not feeding the troll. I’ll break it since he said he is not coming back (although they usually do) and to address something that I’ve been thinking…

Other sites are full of comments such as the above. Now, seriously, which kind of sad and bitter human being decides that the immediate thing to do after your team wins the Stanley Cup is to go to local media sites of the other city/team and bash them?

Of course, that is still miles above of the people who see burning and looting as the thing to do after a SCF.

Congratulations to Boston on winning the Cup. I am sorry it didn’t turn out differently, but, that’s sports for you. Boston deserved to win and was the better team.

On to the next thing, the fucking shitheads rioting downtown. What the fuck.

I am sad and embarrassed for us. I did think, however, that setting up screens to have folks come down and watch the game on the streets downtown was a bad idea. Even if most are well behaved, well, if 1% of 100,000 people are shitheads, that’s 1,000 shitheads, which is bad.

Seriously, what was the plan here… hope they win?? And plan B was….????

…and as the season winds down to the sounds of sirens and smashing glass, thank you Harrison and Daniel for a blog that provided great writing, clear perspective moments of terrific humour and excelled in every way. It was everything such a blog should be. Partisan, yet humble. Fervent, yet gracious. I am sorry it didn’t go our way, but, whaddya gonna do — set fire to shit for no reason?

    Until next year.

I am sick that groups of idiots are rioting, looting and burning the downtown. It’s a black eye on Vancouver. It’s a black eye on Canucks fans.
