Preakness 136 is in the books, and it was a good one.
Shackleford wires the field at odds of 12-1, with Animal Kingdom second, and Astrology third. The pace was faster for about 3/4 of the race, but slowed down as runners approached the stretch run. There will be no Triple Crown this year, folks. Animal Kingdom ran better than I expected, so props to him. As far as betting went, we’re knocking at the door. I had tabbed Astrology, Mucho Macho Man, and Shackleford as the top three picks, but only plonked down cash on Astrology. Two legs of the Triple Crown done, and two third place showings. Hopefully we’ll get a better result in the Belmont Stakes.Tags: Must read, Preakness, Shackleford, Triple Crown
