This Saturday, however, my wife and I will be in Vancouver with my brother and his wife to watch the Canucks take on the Stars. The tickets were a Christmas present from my dad, who is awesome**. Massive understatement: I’m excited. For those who frequently step into the confines of GM Place Rogers Arena, it may be a bit more routine, but for me this is huge. I’m also fairly confident about the Canucks’ chances: they have outscored the Stars 15-3 in their 3 meetings this season. Even with a battered defense, I’ve got a good feeling.
To make things even better, that’s not the end of it: this Saturday ignites a fuse of awesome Canuck-ness set to explode when Harrison, myself, and our wives pack our bags for The Greatest Road Trip of All Time (TM). It starts with the game against the Stars, continues with Harrison’s much-ballyhooed Scrabble Battle against Tanner Glass (which I will be attending and intend to live-blog for everyone’s enjoyment), continues with the Canucks Superskills on the 27th, and climaxes with the road trip. It shall be glorious.
What can I say? I’m a fan. Look for stories, pictures, and other goodies in the coming weeks.

February 18, 2011I have to say a few things. I have been a Canucks fan since the day the team was born. I too have never been to a game. It is my greatest wish, hope and desire to see a game this year, the best of all years. I have also been reading newspapers, magazines, listening to sports radio, watching TV, and now with the internet reading every blog, column, whatever, and one day I stumbled upon PITB. Never mind that Bulis is one of my fav players. Digression here: My daughter used to think that every time Shorty yelled Jan Bulis he was saying "Young Bulis". What's that all about? The only memorable thing Bulis did was that wonderful hip check on Jack I'm so good Johnson in Jack's NHL debut. A thing of beauty. Back to PITB. This is the best blog, column, everything I have ever read. I recommend PITB to all my family and my friends, have it on my FB page, as a sig in my e-mail. YOu guys are the best. Insightful, funny, original, on and on. I read PITB before any other game review and wait anxiously for IWTG. BTW, when are you posting for last night's game? We want Tanner scrabble Tshirts but we live in Victoria — oh wait, an exciting thing in our lives, we scored 2 great seats for SuperSkills, so I guess taht will be the our game for the year. Anyway, I want to say thanks for a job well done. Wonderful. Keep up the good work. You need to make money on this blog — it's worth money. OH, and my brother and his wife are doing the Great Road Trip too. They have money and no kids. My brother is 6'6", short hair, very loud, and his name is Ed. Say hi for me in LA.
A committed PITB fan in Victoria.

February 18, 2011Anonymous9:22, it's awesome to hear that you love the blog. I think there's a decent-sized contingent of rabid Canucks fans that don't get a chance to go to games due to the high cost. I don't blame the Canucks for that; after all, it's supply and demand. But it does make it difficult.
I actually went to the Superskills before I ever went to a game and it was a fantastic experience. I'm sure you'll have a great time and, who knows, I might see you there!

February 18, 2011I'm hoping we can get scrabble me tanner t-shirts at the canucks store while we're at the Superskills. Are the shirts at the store? FYI we're sitting in section 110, row 20, seats 5 and 6 if you want to say hi.

February 18, 2011Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Canucks Team Store is open on Sundays, and that's the only place they're being sold. I'm going to check as to whether they'll be available for sale inside the arena at any point.

February 18, 2011what you need to do is go down to the team store like today, buy out their stock of shirts, and then resell them scalp-style via the internet! (that will piss them off before the scrabble battle, and maybe it'll become a distraction in tanner's room)

February 19, 2011As a UK-based Canucks fan, I got the chance to see my first live game in Vancouver earlier this year when my wife and I visited on our honeymoon. We watched the team destroy the Stars 7-1 (clearly the Stars are the team to watch the boys play). What a game, an incredible evening.
That said, I have a horrible feeling that will be the first and last time I get to see them live. As you mentioned, one has to trade money for tickets. And I need plane tickets, too.
Have an awesome time. Love the blog.
